Road Safety Event - Zappeion Megaron, Athens - February 21-22, 2011

The Road Safety Event, organized by ECTRI Member CERTH/HIT together with FERSI under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport & Networks. took place on February 21st and 22nd, 2011 in Athens, Hellas. Road Safety has been a “front page” issue for over a decade now in Europe, drawing wide policy making and research interest especially after the 2001 EU white paper on Transport Policy.

The main aim was the promotion of road safety by exchanging views and experiences between all relevant stakeholders on success stories and the most promising policies and action plans. Besides its wider European interest and importance, this event was also very important for Greece where the Ministry of Infrastructure Transport and Networks – who is sponsoring this event – is undertaking a series of major initiatives in order to promote road safety and improve the road safety record of the country.

The event comprised a Conference with invited speakers from major European stakeholders, and a parallel exhibition of successful road safety campaigns implemented in European countries.

On February 21, Neil Paulley, ECTRI Vice-President gave a presentation on 'Road Safety in Europe: The research Stakeholders'view'. (534Ko)
